LA HONDA CIVIC LX 2023 FAIT HONNEUR À L'ENTRÉE DE GAMME

It’s no small feat that the Honda Civic was the bestselling car in North America for decades. They are built to a quality standard that is second to few, they are fun to drive, they are well-equipped and they look great. They come in a variety of trims, of course, but even in base LX trim, they have plenty to offer.

Plenty of standard horsepower

Available in both five-door hatchback or four-door sedan trims, the LX comes standard with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with VTEC valve timing good for 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. The sedan comes standard with a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT), while the hatch can be had with either the CVT or a six-speed manual gearbox. No matter which of the two models you select, power will always be sent to the front wheels. While you may have a little more fun driving the manual option, if you’re looking for adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow you do have to opt for the CVT. Oher standard safety features include a blind-spot warning system, lane keep assist and traffic jam assist. That’s a lot of kit for a base model.

Impressive technology in the base Civic

Inside, look for standard eight-speaker audio, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, seven-inch touchscreen display and a USB port. The rear seats in both body styles fold down in a 60/40 split, the driver’s seat is adjustable six ways and the passenger seat is adjustable four ways.

In hatch form, 16-inch wheels come standard while stylish 16-inch steel wheel covers are what you get with the sedan model. Other standard exterior features include LED headlights and daytime running lights, four exterior colour choices for the sedan and three for the hatch.

Remember that the features on the page only tell half the story; hard to see from them how fun the Civic is to drive, how easy it is to load your cargo – especially in the hatchback version – and how much room there is overall inside as the Civic remains one of the roomiest vehicles in the segment.

Even after all these years and even in base trim, the Civic hasn’t lost a step.
